A Quasar is one of the most luminous and powerful objects in the universe, emitting immense energy from its core. Quasar, our data intelligence platform, is designed to sit at the center of your data and AI strategy.

In 2014, we released the first production version of Quasar to solve a hard problem: storing massive amounts of market data and making it instantly accessible for demanding Front and Middle office workloads—think VaR, PnL, and real-time Pricing.

For that purpose, we built a high-performance database and computation engine in C++, engineered from day one for extreme I/O throughput, unmatched memory efficiency, and effortless horizontal scaling across multiple nodes. In practice, you do not need a team of database specialists to scale to petabytes; Quasar’s selfbalancing cluster does it for you.

Recognizing the specialized demands of time series analysis, we added a dedicated query engine that speaks native time series language by extending standard SQL with powerful timeseries operations.

As users moved to the cloud, we delivered native object storage integration and pioneered the world’s most advanced timeseries compression, leveraging our patented adaptive compression algorithm.

Yet realworld workloads seldom fit neatly into one category. Our customers told us they needed a single, powerful, flexible platform with no painful migrations or costly integrations.

Today, we’re thrilled to announce the next major evolution of Quasar that answers to these demands, adding two new frontends to its powerful core:

  1. A fully SQL-compliant frontend (PostgreSQL dialect), optimized for OLAP workloads and ideal for analytics, dashboards, and deep data exploration. Any tool that was connected to your data warehouse can now be connected to Quasar directly,  leveraging Quasar’s unmatched scalability without requiring any change.
  2. A distributed computing environment that seamlessly runs Python directly on data, because not every problem fits neatly into a SQL query. Data scientists can execute NumPy and Pandas workloads in situ.

Our original high-performance query engine and ultra-low-latency API? They’re still here, powering rapid insertion and blazing-fast queries.

You never know which data you need and how you will want to use it. With these interfaces, you keep the raw power of Quasar but with maximum flexibility to adapt to evolving business challenges.

Our mission is to deliver on the promise of AI to predict the future by letting every enterprise leverage its data for smarter decisions and a decisive edge. This release is the next step on that journey.

If that piqued your curiosity, reach out and join our open beta this summer!
