Deployment & Pricing

Quasar runs the same system across all environments, in the cloud or at the edge, without changing architecture or behavior.

Quasar: Deployment Principles

Quasar is software

Multi-platform (Linux, Windows, and BSD-based systems), multi-architecture (ARM32, ARM64, and x86_64), deployable on standard infrastructure.

There is only one Quasar

Same ingestion and query model everywhere, no separate "edge" or "cloud" versions.

Minimize data movement

Data stays where it is produced and processed.

Quasar Cloud

Quasar runs as a distributed system in your cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP), using standard compute and storage primitives.

How it works

  • Runs on standard compute (VMs, containers, or Kubernetes)
  • Uses object storage (S3, Blob, GCS) as the primary storage layer
  • Maintains local caches and indexes on attached storage (NVMe, SSD)
  • Data is automatically tiered between hot (local) and cold (object storage)

Characteristics

  •  Object storage is used directly without data duplication
  • Tiering between storage layers is transparent to queries
  • Real-time and historical data are accessed through the same system
  • Can operate on block storage (EBS, etc.) when required

Performance & scale

  •  Sustains high ingestion rates under continuous load
  • Queries operate directly on compressed columnar data
  • Scales horizontally by adding nodes
  • Designed for datasets from terabytes to multi-petabytes

Commercial model

  • Flat pricing based on provisioned capacity
  • No per-query or per-ingestion charges
  • Storage costs primarily driven by object storage

Quasar Edge

Run Quasar at the edge: close to where data is produced, including industrial sites, data centers, and distributed environments.

How it works

  • Runs on your own infrastructure (bare metal or virtualized)
  • Uses local storage (NVMe, SSD, HDD) for data and indexing
  • Processes and queries data locally with low latency

Characteristics

  •  No dependency on external storage systems
  • Data is stored and processed locally
  • Can integrate with external storage systems (e.g., VAST) when required
  • Works efficiently with standard local storage (NVMe, SSD, JBOD)
  • Same ingestion and query model as cloud deployments

Performance & scale

  • Sustains high ingestion rates locally
  • Low-latency query execution on live data
  • Scales vertically (hardware) or horizontally (nodes)
  • Suitable for distributed and intermittent connectivity environments

Commercial model

  • Software licensed based on provisioned capacity
  • Runs on your own hardware or infrastructure
  • No per-query or per-ingestion charges
  • Costs are predictable and independent of workload variability

Quasar Appliance

A fully integrated deployment of Quasar designed to deliver predictable performance, cost, and operational simplicity. Designed for environments where performance, cost, and operational predictability matter most.

What it is

  •  Pre-configured hardware and software, delivered as a single system
  • Sized and optimized for your expected workload over multiple years
  • Deployed as a turnkey system with minimal setup

Characteristics

  •  Hardware, storage, and system configuration tuned specifically for Quasar
  • Operates independently using local storage (NVMe, SSD, JBOD)
  • Requires only power and network connectivity to operate
  • Can be integrated with external storage systems for backup when required

Operational model

  • Delivered, installed, and configured as a complete system
  • Quasar setup, tuning, and data integration handled end-to-end
  • Supports direct connection to data sources (e.g., MQTT, PLC, market data)
  • Includes query interfaces and analytical capabilities out of the box

Commercial model

  •  Fixed pricing over multi-year periods
  • Includes hardware, software, and support
  • No usage-based pricing or variable costs
